Lace and Flannel

It's hot, hot, hot in LA so my summer clothes have been making appearances here. Every girl needs a little black dress, and in this case I opt'ed to dress it down with a light flannel. The lace adds a feminine touch since the flannel is such a hard pattern. Perhaps it was a little cheesy to buy a necklace with the state of Cali on it, but I'm currently representing the city of LA as if it's my own, so holla at me 3-1-0!!!!

I woke up like this... (sort of)

Is anyone else totally over wearing a full face of make up on the daily?? I don't know about you but the idea of trying to paint a straight black line on my eyelid early in the morning is just not practical. Also am I the only one who looks like a racoon after wearing mascara all day? Ain't cute gals.  Of course when I go out at night, I try to vamp it up with all kinds of make up, but on a day to day I feel a fresh face is the perfect statement. Okay, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, it's not like I roll out of bed with a goddess like glow and am ready to take on the world...that's why I'll share with you some lazy Crispy beauty secrets...

1. Cannot live without this, carry stylish bags on your arm, not under your eyes.
2. This product is cousins with my first, brightens up under eyes like you've gotten 100 hours of sleep.
3. We all get lazy with eyebrow grooming, a little under the brow highlight and it's like you've  instantly gotten a fresh wax.
4. Am I crazy for only wearing bronzer as opposed to foundation? A matte will do just the trick.
5. A creme blush adds a little moisture to your natural glow.

What are some of your fresh face beauty tricks?

LA Times!

After a long travel day to LA with my two best gals, we've finally arrived in the City of Angels and are settled in, errands completed and all (a.k.a fio-ed!). I have to admit, LA wasn't all it was cut out to be during my first few trips out here. The west coast wasn't exactly my favourite destination in the past, although it did have potential that I clearly was oblivious in seeing. In the movies it's all glitz and glam but in real life, of course there's a little of that glitz, but it's super spread out and if you don't know your way around or the cool places to go, you'll end up at a fast-food resturaunt in Hollywood for dinner. Lucky for us, Annie Clark (being her usual trendy self) found the perfect abode in the middle of a popular, swanky neighbourhood. The house couldn't be more charming, and the location is prime.
When in Rome, we obviously had to go to some stylish restaurants around the city, which included The Newsroom Cafe, Joans on Third, Sushi Roku and our personal fav, Il Piccolino (due to the complimentary dessert and roses straight from the owner himself...hey Sylvio!).
LA has no shortage of fashionable people, which inspired this post... locals seem to have a fashion sense that fits somewhere between edgy and incredibly chic, all at the same time. Carefree but still cool seems to be a thing, and I'm excited to experiment with my style.

Sunday Snack...

Watching the Food Network all day seriously makes you question a career change, however when it comes to Crispy in the kitchen, I am NO Giada de Laurentiis.  Evidently marathons of Chopped and Cutthroat Kitchen will give you that cooking itch. Not sure why I'm posting a recipe that may be the easiest in the world...but I just thought if I was successful at it, then you non cookers can try it too (and feel extremely proud of yourself after)! Ever since Avocados became cool, everyone I know eats them, so you'll be the "favourite guest" when you bring a little bowl of fiesta to the party!
What you'll need:
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 ripe tomato, chopped
1 lime, juiced
salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Peel and mash avocados in a medium serving bowl.
Stir in onion, garlic, lime juice, salt and pepper.
Season with remaining lime juice and salt and pepper to taste.
Chill for half an hour to blend flavours.
Chop fresh tomatoes to garnish on top.

Now you can stop laughing at how easy this recipe was and how pointless posting this was...
but when you only know how to make gourmet Peanut Butter and Jelly, creating this guacamole is a milestone.

To spend, or Not To Spend....

Being on the show, I get to attend a lot of amazing events. With always wanting to look on point with my style, it can get a little pricey at times.  Finding the perfect look can definitely add up, however lately I have been keeping a budget when it comes to certain looks. Via twitter, some of you often ask where I purchase my outfits so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to post a few previous outfits from memorable events. Perhaps if I found these steals at the time, I wouldn't have felt such a heavy heart about the buy! Does anyone else feel guilty when they splurge on an item? Literally feel like I'm cheating on my wallet... Thank goodness for lookalikes!

I wore this to the Degrassi season premiere back in 2012. I loved the beading and fit of the boustier. I feel like it flattered my small chest... gave me a little va-va-voom! I kept in the rocker-look theme by adding spike bracelets that were inexpensive. Black smokey eyes and a slick back pony did the trick to add focus to the intricate beading.

Wearing this dress made me feel like I was glowing!  Obviously pairing a gold number with corral accessories gave the look a summerey-vibe. This dress is on the borderline of cocktail and evening. I feel as if you could dress it down for a night out with the girls or even dress it up for a formal outing like a wedding. The dress was a little stiff due to the wiring inside to keep the shape. The steal I've found, I would imagine would be a bandage body con-like dress. Don't forget the accessories on a nude outfit..adds that POP.

NYE

Finally, a New Years Eve that wasn't overrated! When I was a little girl New Years was always my favourite night of the year... then as I got older I realized New Years was just like any other Friday night minus the countdown and that "magical" kiss, therefore ending in disappointment each time.  This year was a success and luckily for you guys, I can share my outfit choices. To my advantage since I can never choose one outfit and consider myself somewhat of a fashionista (do people still say that word?), due to the plans, I was able to wear TWO outfits for the night! Sccccoooorrreeee!!

My first look consisted of:
I know what you're thinking...BLACK! How boring?! Don't worry, I added my NYE touch by belting the peplum top with a chic thin gold belt.

Second Look :
A little straps never hurt nobody ( a la A Little Party Never Killed Nobody ).  I went for a dressier look as I was getting my 'fist pumping' on at a club! The date didn't mind the dress either... ;)
